General Marion's Brigade Chapter, NSDAR
Chartered in Moncks Corner, South Carolina
25th Anniversary in October 2024!
On October 24, 1999, twenty-four ladies organized General Marion's Brigade Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. The chapter exists due to the efforts of Kitty Mescher, who had the vision to create a chapter in Berkeley County, South Carolina where so many battles and skirmishes were fought from 1780 to 1782. The chapter was named General Marion's Brigade to honor the native son of Berkeley County and the men who served with him. Francis Marion was known as the Swamp Fox for his ability to do the most with the least in the difficult terrain of the lowcountry of South Carolina. To honor the efforts of these patriot ancestors in the cause of liberty, all activities of General Marion's Brigade Chapter are focused on preserving history, promoting education and encouraging patriotism.
